Asterisk PBX Hardware
Asterisk PBX supports a wide variety of hardware. This section includes the most popular hardware for use with Asterisk PBX.
Server or PC
Asterisk will run on a Linux based computer system. You can install Asterisk on anything from a home based PC to a multi-processor
Server with oodles of memory and hard disk space. As with any other software package, you should evaluate your requirements such as
number of users, number of PCI slots required, disk space required for voicemail, and others. Asterisk has been known to run on older PCs and servers
with Pentium processors. We always recommend that you stick to name brand servers because of the support you get from the big companies like Dell, HP, IBM, etc..
For home based installations, you may opt for a PC based solution and that is definitely acceptable.
Zaptel Hardware
Asterisk supports zaptel compatible hardware from Digium.
